Interior
The SP Cruiser is a smartly designed and comfortable motor sailor. She has a large raised pilot house that doubles as the salon and helm, a spacious galley, a large owner’s cabin forward, a guest cabin aft, a head with a separate shower, a desk, and plenty of storage.
The pilot house has large CE Category A Ocean-rated windows providing panoramic views. The side and rear windows slide open, and the center forward window opens upward. There is a door between the aft cockpit and the pilot house and an overhead hatch. There are two adjustable swivel captain’s chairs at the helm and an L-shaped settee and a dining table that has 2 leaves that fold out. Just swivel the 2 chairs around to the table and you have a wonderful spot to have a meal. The teak and holly floor was recently re-finished and looks fantastic! Storage is found under the settee and in shelves outboard.

Belowdecks is finished in laminate, hardwoods, Berber-style marine carpet and molded nonslip surfaces in the head, galley and navigation areas.
Forward is the owner's cabin with a very comfortable centerline berth, great headroom, and a lot of room to move around. The large hatch overhead and opening ports provide good ventilation. The end of the berth lifts up to a very large storage area, ideal for those large bulky items. Under this is a large drawer. Outboard additional storage is found on either side with shelves and hanging lockers.
Just aft of the owner's cabin and to starboard is the head with a separate stall shower. There is private access from the master stateroom and a second door from the main area. There is an opening port in the head for ventilation. The shower has a comfortable seat and there is a plexiglass panel that separates the shower compartment from the sink/toilet area.

On the starboard side adjacent to the galley are a separate work area with a desk and a seat. The space is perfect for use as an office or nav station. The desk opens up for storage and there is a shelf above.
The galley is inline on the port side and runs from the steps all the way to the owner's cabin. Typical of an Island Packet there is a tremendous amount of storage space throughout the galley and no shortage of counter space. Two large fridge compartments are very easy to access just under the counter. One a fridge and the other a freezer with dual systems and individual digital controls. Inboard on the centerline there are twin sinks, additional counter space, and storage.

Broker's Comments
I had the pleasure of running an Island Packet SP Cruiser after the 2017 Annapolis Spring Boat Show. It was a chilly evening with approximately 16 knots of wind. She handled the conditions well and powered along nicely at 7.3 knots while running the 110 HP Yanmar at 2,500 RPM. I unfurled the sails and she cruised along easily at 5.5 while wing on wing. I enjoyed the warmth of the pilot house and push-button sailing.

Matt Malatich, CPYB is the Managing Broker of S&J Yachts in Charleston, S.C., where he is a standout in helping clients navigate the acquisition or disposition process of luxury cruising yachts.
Boating has always been at the forefront of Matt’s life. From growing up on boats, to pleasure cruising and racing, to watching his own kids learn the lines, Matt’s love of the sea is woven throughout the canvas of his life.
It’s no wonder that a heart for the water, a head for business and a degree from Hamilton College led Matt to launch his career in 1996 as a yacht broker with J/Port and then Crusader Yacht Sales in Annapolis, MD. In this role, he sold brokerage boats and new J/Boats, Ericsons, Pacific Seacraft, Sagas and Tiaras.
Shortly after being named Salesperson of the Year for Pacific Seacraft, Matt returned to his hometown of Princeton, N.J., in 1999 to expand his professional experience to commercial real estate. Matt served as a commercial real estate broker for CBRE and Preferred Real Estate Investments, where he focused on acquisitions of large corporate-owned properties for redevelopment as well as leasing of office properties and due diligence of large-scale dispositions.
Matt transitioned to the role of Assistant Director of Leasing for Hilton Realty, a fully integrated real estate development and management company in 2006. For nearly a decade, Matt’s primary focus was on marketing and leasing industrial, office and retail properties to large banks, law firms, technology firms, pharmaceutical companies, national retailers as well as mom and pop stores.
In 2015, Matt’s genuine affinity toward boating prompted him to make a sea change personally and professionally. Trading bricks for boats, Matt returned to the yacht brokerage business as the Managing Broker for S&J Yacht’s Charleston office.
Today, drawing from nearly 25 years of combined experience in yacht brokerage and commercial real estate, Matt has built a reputation for his proven ability to assist buyers and sellers of upscale power and cruising sailboats throughout North America and Europe.
As a seasoned broker, Matt understands that buying and selling can be both one of the most euphoric and stressful times in a boater’s journey, and views representation and guidance of his clients’ dreams as a true privilege.
Matt’s calm and easy demeanor provides clients with a steady hand at the wheel to help them obtain the best value for their dream yacht, as well as assisting sellers with a smooth sale of their vessel when the time is right. He is well positioned to be an advocate throughout the entire transaction process by prescreening boats (including obtaining their true histories), facilitating showings, navigating financing options, insurance needs, surveys and the closing process.
