“Hello Captain Al, We have a new favorite boat broker. No matter what we do with our Island Packet, we agreed that you are polite, honest, earnest and a pleasure to work with. We would buy or sell a boat through you any day.”
— Nick (New Island Packet 40 owner)
“I found Alberts ‘details on the CPYB after Giving up with a broker that would never call back. He was first on the list after I keyed in my search criteria.

I called Albert and left a message. He called me back that same day and we talked……a lot. He asked me all sorts of questions that would help him understand what I was looking for and what I needed. After the initial call I felt very positive that Albert was the right broker for the job, this was because he not only gave me a good insight into the whole process, but he also listened well.

The whole process with Al was enlightening, he guided me into making decisions that would eventually get me a boat I loved. I had pretty specific ideas about what I wanted, and Al would never try to push anything on me or force me into decisions that I may regret. He would make sure that I understood the pro’s and con’s of everything before I made decisions. He made the whole process understandable and would give guidance and information on things that I never even would have considered. He is a wealth of information, and I am sure there is very little that he doesn’t know about sailboats. He was patient and would get back to me when he said he would, he would always find out answers for me. I made offers on a couple of boats but to no avail. In the end he showed me a boat that I had never heard of. I wasn’t sure at first but something inside of me said go back and take another look. I did some research on the boat and on paper it was as good as (if not better) than my original choice of boat. I went back to view the boat 3 times before making an offer, Albert was supportive and got answers to all my questions. A great guy who is patient and thinks of his customer’s needs. He explained every step of the buying /closing process and helped make it as easy a possible. Albert was a classic example of customer care!!
In fact, the whole experience with everyone at S&J Yacht’s was very positive.”
— Steven Toal (New Caliber 40 owner)
“Skipper Chip Johnson made the process of selling our Island Packet easy! Even though he lives several hours from our boat location, he was always available and made the trek on several occasions to get photos, show the boat, and participate in the survey. His marketing advice was invaluable, and as a result, our boat sold very quickly. Christy Jackowski handled all the paperwork, and made sure the closing went smoothly. All in all we had a very positive experience, and would recommend Chip, Christy and the S&J team to anyone looking to buy or sell a boat”
— Mark Kahles
“Oh my GOODNESS! I cannot begin to express how great Anthony Colache and S&J Yachts were for us during our boat buying process! After a few difficulties on the seller’s end (not S&J’s fault!) Anthony went above and beyond to make sure that we got the right boat for our needs! We love our Caliber and I’d heartily recommend S&J Yachts and especially Anthony as a broker!”
— Molly Hebert-Wilson
“Anthony did a wonderful job of keeping us informed and sold our sailboat almost immediately!”
— Patricia Cantwell

“Anthony Colache and the Team at S&J went above and beyond to provide great service to myself as well as the buyer of our Robalo. My family and I were away and Anthony and Crew made special arrangements to ensure that all details were taken care of. Thanks for your help!”
— Mike Womer
“In a search for the right boat Anthony came through. His various recommendations for financing, surveying, etc. were on point. Through what ended up being a rather protracted experience for reasons beyond anyone’s control, Anthony put in an extraordinary effort disproportionate to the relatively modest purchase made. I’ll certainly return when I have deeper pockets.”
— Alex Bell
“Chip is great! Made the experience of selling very easy. Became an expert on my boat and knew everything needed to provide a very smooth transaction. Highly recommended!!”
— Javier Ortiz
“S & J Yachts. Great company & people. Anthony Colache was my broker he went above and beyond. Plus he was my captain. Who taught me a lot along the way because I’m just an amateur. Lol, Your the man! It was a pleasure dealing with you. I will highly recommend. Let’s not forget Christy who did the paper work. She was awesome to. Thank you, thank you and thank you. Much appreciated! If I ever run into anybody that is interested in buying a boat I will highly recommend you & the company S&J Yachts.”
— Christopher Pollock
“An absolutely pleasant experience from the start. Chip is knowledgeable, friendly and responsive. So far S&J has taken a lot of the first time boat fears out of the picture and made this fun and informative. I look forward to working with them through survey, sea trials and ownership. (And all the other things I don’t know about) Thank you ”
— T Stam
“Michele Martinage is a fantastically good broker and I am not given to praise lightly. You can trust her explicitly and she will steer you the right way.”
— Robert Wilkinson
“Bill Bolin used his vast knowledge of yachts on the market to match us with our new IP485.   He guided us smoothly through the entire process.  After our purchase, Bill has continued to support us and answer questions.  He is an ethical professional who enjoys helping people purchase a “dream vessel.”  We would use his services again without hesitation.”
— Dan and Melissa Kenshalo – Island Packet 485-041
“ …I’m very happy with the experience of working with [Ed & Robin]. Absolutely the most ready and courteous Brokers I’ve dealt with. On a scale of 1 – 10 your team is at the top with an absolute 10! ”
— Ray B.
“During a search for a boat to purchase over the last year, I contacted many brokers and looked at a lot of boats. Most of the brokers I dealt with not very helpful or professional. It was a breath of fresh air to deal with S+J Yachts and Anthony. He was very helpful and very professional through the entire process. I would definitely recommend Anthony and S+J Yacht to anyone that is planning on selling or purchasing a boat.”
— Fischer Larry
“I contacted Jack Malatich at S&J on one of his listings during my offshore cruising boat search. When I came to Annapolis he listened carefully to my cruising parameters, showed me the boat, and answered all questions directly without any hard sales embellishment. I shortly afterwards purchased a boat listed from another brokerage that better matched my needs, but I will always remember being impressed by Jack’s overall marine industry expertise as well as his specific model knowledge of the listing.”
— Jim Roberts
“A shout out to S&J Yachts brokers Dennis and Brenda Pace in the Deltaville, VA office. They smoothed the way to agreement between us (buyers) and the seller when survey issues might have caused problems. Instead, Dennis and Brenda guided all of us to a fair and successful deal.”
— L. B.
“We met Chip when we were boat shopping ; he showed us a boat he was brokering and impressed us with his sailboat knowledge, and because he truly listened to what we were looking for. He didn’t pressure us or try to hide the flaws of what he showed (or disregard if it didn’t tick our wish-list checkboxes) and was genuinely more interested in making sure we found the right boat for us—even if it wasn’t one of his. Naturally when we listed our boat for sale, we asked Chip to be our broker. We just closed the sale of our 1987 Gulfstar Hirsch 45 sailboat and could not be happier with him as our broker. We think that Chip Cramer is an awesome broker and human being. We trusted him completely and he proved his worth by selling our boat in a timely manner for a very good price. We also believe that Chip’s delivery service for buyers makes it that much easier to sell boats in a market full of out-of-state buyers who often want to moor the boat somewhere other than where they bought it. You will have our business if we ever decide to buy another yacht and we will recommend Chip wholeheartedly to anybody we know who may be looking for a boat or a broker. Thanks!”
— Wayne Seitz
“Neil Andersen helped us through the lengthy process of buying our Delphia 40.3 this spring. He was patient with our numerous twists and turns, informative and knowledgeable, but also willing to say so when he didn’t know something and go get the answers.
Neil made the process not just painless but downright enjoyable. We highly recommend him.”
— Steve Carton
“You have to see Michele about boats to buy.”
— Art Michaelsen
“S&J Yachts in Rock Hall, Md. Highly recommend! Ed and Robin were knowledgeable and fun to work with, great team.”
— Donna VanDeMark
“We have been sailing our IP370 for just over a month and we are overdue in recognizing the exceptional support that we received from Neil Andersen during the buying process. As first-time boat buyers, Neil’s decades of boating experience and his professional background were invaluable in our search for the perfect boat. He was our advocate throughout the buying process, helping us identify the right boat and then ensuring that we had access to the information we needed for every step from the contract, to the survey and through the delivery. We especially appreciate that we can still count on Neil’s continued support for our steep learning curve as new boat owners. We highly recommend Neil if you are looking to list or buy a boat!”
— Josie Colliflower Webster
“We have a great long term relationship with Michele Martinage at S&J. Her nearly 25 years of experience helped us sell two boats and buy our Island Packet 40, La Dolce Vita. She and the team at S&J went to great lengths to help us prep, show, and sell LDV, to an A-list of qualified buyers, while our boat remained in SWFL during the contract term. I would go back to Michele and S&J whenever I need a yacht broker.”
— Greg Balestrero
“After trying for several years with several brokers, Chip was able to secure a buyer for our boat in a matter of months. Very happy with his service.”
— Joanne Griffin
“Bill Bolin is a knowledgeable, competent, and professional Yacht Broker.  He provided outstanding support and guidance before and after the purchases of our 3 new Island Packets since 1988.  His exceptional knowledge of the design, build, and maintenance of all the boats that he represents backs up his impeccable reputation for honestly presenting the facts to a potential buyer or seller.  His marketing and sales skills are phenomenal; he does not just sell a boat, he forms lasting relationships with his customers.  Consequently, Bill is widely known and is a trusted broker who is frequently sought after by those considering the purchase of a new or used vessel.”
— Wayne Pearson, Island Packet 485-009
“…I have dealt with numerous brokers and you [Michele] by far were the most responsive and a pleasure to work with. If I am in the market again I will be sure to look you up as well as recommend you to other people. Thank you again….stay healthy.”

“In October 2019, we met with Neil Andersen, broker with S&J Yachts, to look at a 2003 Hunter 356. Although we decided not to make an offer on that particular boat, we found Neil to be very knowledgeable and helpful to us. Being first-time buyers, Neil carefully explained the process and the key points to consider when making an offer. Neil took care in listening to our “must have” items we were looking for in a boat. With that information, Neil provided us with a list of Beneteau and Hunter boats along with a 2000 Catalina 36 Mark II. As we reviewed descriptions of each vessel, Neil responded quickly answer all of our questions. On a cool Sunday in November, Neil spent the day taking us around Rock Hall, MD., to look at the five boats we had selected from the list. By the end of the day, we had decided on the Catalina, and once we notified Neil, as the buyer’s broker, he drew up our offer and sent it to the selling broker. Neil helped us through the whole process which included providing us a list of professional marine surveyors for an independent inspection of the boat. Once the seller accepted our offer, we selected a surveyor and scheduled the inspection date. The survey took roughly six hours and Neil was there with us for the entire day. Within a week, we had our survey and with Neil’s experience and professional advice, we were able to close the purchase of the vessel within two weeks. We would certainly recommend Neil Andersen and S&J Yachts for anyone in the market for a sailboat.”
— Matthew Hubbell
“Matt Malatich is incredible. He really went above and beyond in helping us find our home on the sea. We had a long list of questions and concerns during the boat hunting process and Matt was at the ready with the answers. I was always impressed with his promptness and follow up throughout the entire process. Do yourself a favor and call upon Matt whether you are buying or selling. You will never find a better broker.”
— Dannalie Saunders
“A great team of people from start to finish. From…the search and subsequent find of our dream boat to the closing team – everyone was extremely supportive, helpful, and knowledgeable. I highly recommend them to anyone seeking to join the lifestyle of a cruiser.”
— Louis Meckler
“Bill Bolin was exceptional listing and selling our relatively unique Island Packet 44. Painted white and with a custom interior layout, she was not like any other Island Packet 44. We found Bill uniquely suited to list and highlight the advantages of our IP. He was also a calm influence on the price negotiation and the subsequent survey. I would use Bill again in a heartbeat, to buy or sell for me.”
— Mike Graham
“As the end of winter approaches and my attention returns to the Chesapeake and the upcoming sailing season, I’d like to give a belated shout out to Neil Andersen and the rest of the crew at S&J. Almost a year ago Sally Strohm and I started our search for a first sailboat and were fortunate enough to connect with S&J and Neil. We had, at best, a vague ideas of what we were looking for, but that didn’t dampen Neil’s enthusiasm for the search. After an introductory meeting in Rock Hall, Neil pushed back from his desk and declared it was time to “go kick some tires.”
The first day was a whirlwind; I think we climbed on over a dozen boats scattered about the area. There were a couple prospects but, more importantly, Neil was beginning to learn what we liked and what we wanted to stay away from. He listened carefully, never pushed, and patiently led us around from one marina to another.
It was a long summer — I had no idea how hot and funky an old boat sitting on the hard can get. But we climbed in and out of boat after boat, all our shirts soaked with the heat, and all the while Neil never lost his determination to find us the “right” boat (or his sense of humor!).
At long last we found our boat (a Southern Cross 39 in Mears Point) and Neil and the pros at S&J were invaluable in guiding us through the process of closing the deal. Not something I’d want to do on my own — certainly not as a first-time buyer. Many thanks to Neil and S&J!”
— Tom and Sally
“We had an excellent experience working with Matt. He was very responsive to emails and phone calls and attended to every detail of the sale in a prompt and professional way. We are glad to consider him a friend now and wouldn’t hesitate to use his services again.”
— Amy Masters
“Despite the hot yacht market, Chip Cramer promptly responded to our YachtWorld query with a followup phone call. We met the next day. Chip was up front about the boat, fairly assessing its condition, anticipated our questions and gave thorough answers. When we admitted why that boat wasn’t our ideal, he listened to what we were looking for and made suggestions that were more to our ideal, even if it meant the only benefit was our finding the right boat for us. For anyone in the area either buying or selling a boat, I would definitely recommend Chip.”
— Dana Greyson
“Have it a year now and simply love our 1988 Sea Ray 415. Neil at S&J Yachts was both fair and a great mediator to work with during the purchase of this older motor yacht.”
— Bob Corbo
“Selling a sailboat is never an easy task. Some boats remain for sale for years. Others languish with their owners lowering the price continually.
I recently sold an IP 350 and utilized the services of Bill Bolin. This man is a consummate professional in all regards. He understands the markets, the competition, the promotional challenges and the boats themselves. When it came time to selling my boat, Bill made it easy for me. He is a man that I would recommend to anyone contemplating a boat sale or purchase.”
— Maarten R. Heybroek
“We used S&J to sell our powerboat. Neil Andersen developed a terrific listing and the boat sold quickly. All of the paperwork and completion of the sale was prompt and efficient.”
— Dave Sharp
“The word that comes to mind concerning both Jack and Sharon Malatich of S&J Yachts is “integrity”. They made our buying experience enjoyable for us, from finding the right sailboat, through negotiation of the deal, closing the purchase, and subsequent sale of our old boat. My wife and I would not hesitate to purchase our next boat through them (IF there is another boat, perhaps a trawler).
— Wayne Winokur
“Had wonderful experience working with Neil Andersen through S&J Yachts. Neil was helpful, informative, quick to respond and overall a pleasure to work with. Highly recommend moving forward; I would definitely do business again with Neil in the future.”
— Brian Wexler
“I met Chip Cramer recently at a marina near Stuart. He showed a genuine interest in our boat and asked about her history. We talked for a while about boats and sailing and almost as an afterthought he mentioned he had a few boats listed for sale in the marina. We parted ways sharing contact info, along with Chip’s offer to help in any way he could. Being new to Florida, I took him up on his offer multiple times in the days to come. Knowing our boat was very special to us, it was clear to him from the start that he would never sell me a boat. But it was also clear he was not the usual yacht broker. At one point in our conversations I commented on how helpful he had been and he simply responded “there are a handful of us in the area that try hard to help and grow the sail community.” I asked what exactly that meant. Well… “Through boat sales, rigging, delivery, maintenance, racing etc., I meet people like you and others everyday. Some cruising some just local sailors but through these people and my contacts, and other resources in the industry I’m able to put people together, and make connections to help make everybody’s boating experience a little better, more fulfilling in some way, or just more fun because us sailors typically somewhat like minded and enjoy helping each other out.” If I ever decide buy a new boat, my first call will be to Chip.”
— Drew Cathell
Matt Malatich from the Charleston office just sold my classic 1978 Freedom 40 in what is decidedly a difficult current market. He got me two offers and it just closed for what would have been a good top of the market price in good times. And Susan Gatling made the closing between a CA buyer and a NJ seller seamless. Kudos to them and the whole S&J Yachts team. I give them a 5 with a pandemic plus.
