Chip is a native of Belhaven, North Carolina, a small commercial fishing town in a region famous boatbuilders like Pacific Seacraft, Gunboat and, Hatteras Yachts. He has always been around boat hulls, boat yards, boat motors, studied boats of all sizes, shapes and specialties.

Owning his first powerboat at age 12, Chip worked a field of 100 crab pots every day after school, and then got to ski home for dinner. Sailing began at about the same time on fast NACRA cats and Bic sailboards around the Pamlico Sound and it’s tributaries. Chip calls his beloved home boating area “Brackwater NC”

After graduating from the NC School of Science and Mathematics in Durham, he then chose the UNC-Chapel Hill. In business, he launched compinies enjoying a high-tech job with a fantastic career in luxury and marine/military electronics. He then got to retire early and go cruising!

Chip and Honey, his wife of 33 years, sold the house and moved aboard their 44’ cruising yacht and lived 2 years/5000 miles having the time of their lives! He has lived the dream, and highly recommends it.

Having spent such a professional career working with architects, interior designers, manufacturers, generals and subcontractors, he knows how to listen.
