I had the sense when I first met Anthony that he was a very sincere and honest person, and my first impression was only reinforced through the many contacts I had with him. Chip Johnson at S&J was great to work with. Not all smooth sailing thru the rigors of selling our boat. Documents and distance from NC (we live remotely in Idaho), were problems that need help with. Our boat was more than just a boat to us. It was a second home which we loved. Chip was knowledgeable about the whole process and he made continuing efforts during the whole process. I worked with Jack Hefner and Helen McAdory on both the purchase and later sale of my Menorquin 120. We recently purchased a 39′ Regency Yachts Trawler through S&J Yachts. Anthony Colache was a great Broker to deal with and made it super easy to work out the deal. Would buy from S&J Yachts again!

Working with Skipper Chip Johnson and S&J Yachts could not have been a better experience. Our yacht was unique in that is Italian built from a seventy five year old craft company but was also the only Aprea Mer available for sale in the US at the time. This left us with a very “niche ” pool of buyers. Chip felt this placed us in an enviable position and suggested a listing price of $169,000. Several locals were interested but didn’t move forward. However, very quickly found a true “niche buyer” who came on the scene. Immediately Chip took command and worked through an offer of $160,000 which we accepted. Over the next several months Skip skillfully maneuvered through a number of unseen issues and continually assured the buyer that continuing this process to fruition was in his best interest. Skip worked closely with the marina the boat was in and the staff there overseeing the process. In the end, the boat sold at the agreed on price with all parties satisfied. I found Alberts ‘details on the CPYB after Giving up with a broker that would never call back. He was first on the list after I keyed in my search criteria. I called Albert and left a message. He called me back that same day and we talked……a lot. He asked me all sorts of questions that would help him understand what I was looking for and what I needed. After the initial call I felt very positive that Albert was the right broker for the job, this was because he not only gave me a good insight into the whole process, but he also listened well. The whole process with Al was enlightening, he guided me into making decisions that would eventually get me a boat I loved. I had pretty specific ideas about what I wanted, and Al would never try to push anything on me or force me into decisions that I may regret. He would make sure that I understood the pro’s and con’s of everything before I made decisions. He made the whole process understandable and would give guidance and information on things that I never even would have considered. He is a wealth of information, and I am sure there is very little that he doesn’t know about sailboats. He was patient and would get back to me when he said he would, he would always find out answers for me. I made offers on a couple of boats but to no avail. In the end he showed me a boat that I had never heard of. I wasn’t sure at first but something inside of me said go back and take another look. I did some research on the boat and on paper it was as good as (if not better) than my original choice of boat. I went back to view the boat 3 times before making an offer, Albert was supportive and got answers to all my questions. A great guy who is patient and thinks of his customer’s needs. He explained every step of the buying /closing process and helped make it as easy a possible. Albert was a classic example of customer care!! In fact, the whole experience with everyone at S&J Yacht’s was very positive.

In October 2019, we met with Neil Andersen, broker with S&J Yachts, to look at a 2003 Hunter 356. Although we decided not to make an offer on that particular boat, we found Neil to be very knowledgeable and helpful to us. Being first-time buyers, Neil carefully explained the process and the key points to consider when making an offer. Neil took care in listening to our “must have” items we were looking for in a boat. With that information, Neil provided us with a list of Beneteau and Hunter boats along with a 2000 Catalina 36 Mark II. As we reviewed descriptions of each vessel, Neil responded quickly answer all of our questions. On a cool Sunday in November, Neil spent the day taking us around Rock Hall, MD., to look at the five boats we had selected from the list. By the end of the day, we had decided on the Catalina, and once we notified Neil, as the buyer’s broker, he drew up our offer and sent it to the selling broker. Neil helped us through the whole process which included providing us a list of professional marine surveyors for an independent inspection of the boat. Once the seller accepted our offer, we selected a surveyor and scheduled the inspection date. The survey took roughly six hours and Neil was there with us for the entire day. Within a week, we had our survey and with Neil’s experience and professional advice, we were able to close the purchase of the vessel within two weeks. We would certainly recommend Neil Andersen and S&J Yachts for anyone in the market for a sailboat.

As the end of winter approaches and my attention returns to the Chesapeake and the upcoming sailing season, I’d like to give a belated shout out to Neil Andersen and the rest of the crew at S&J. Almost a year ago Sally Strohm and I started our search for a first sailboat and were fortunate enough to connect with S&J and Neil. We had, at best, a vague ideas of what we were looking for, but that didn’t dampen Neil’s enthusiasm for the search. After an introductory meeting in Rock Hall, Neil pushed back from his desk and declared it was time to “go kick some tires.” The first day was a whirlwind; I think we climbed on over a dozen boats scattered about the area. There were a couple prospects but, more importantly, Neil was beginning to learn what we liked and what we wanted to stay away from. He listened carefully, never pushed, and patiently led us around from one marina to another. It was a long summer — I had no idea how hot and funky an old boat sitting on the hard can get. But we climbed in and out of boat after boat, all our shirts soaked with the heat, and all the while Neil never lost his determination to find us the “right” boat (or his sense of humor!). At long last we found our boat (a Southern Cross 39 in Mears Point) and Neil and the pros at S&J were invaluable in guiding us through the process of closing the deal. Not something I’d want to do on my own — certainly not as a first-time buyer. Many thanks to Neil and S&J!

Despite the hot yacht market, Chip Cramer promptly responded to our YachtWorld query with a followup phone call. We met the next day. Chip was up front about the boat, fairly assessing its condition, anticipated our questions and gave thorough answers. When we admitted why that boat wasn’t our ideal, he listened to what we were looking for and made suggestions that were more to our ideal, even if it meant the only benefit was our finding the right boat for us. For anyone in the area either buying or selling a boat, I would definitely recommend Chip.

Have it a year now and simply love our 1988 Sea Ray 415. Neil at S&J Yachts was both fair and a great mediator to work with during the purchase of this older motor yacht.

I met Chip Cramer recently at a marina near Stuart. He showed a genuine interest in our boat and asked about her history. We talked for a while about boats and sailing and almost as an afterthought he mentioned he had a few boats listed for sale in the marina. We parted ways sharing contact info, along with Chip’s offer to help in any way he could. Being new to Florida, I took him up on his offer multiple times in the days to come. Knowing our boat was very special to us, it was clear to him from the start that he would never sell me a boat. But it was also clear he was not the usual yacht broker. At one point in our conversations I commented on how helpful he had been and he simply responded “there are a handful of us in the area that try hard to help and grow the sail community.” I asked what exactly that meant. Some cruising some just local sailors but through these people and my contacts, and other resources in the industry I’m able to put people together, and make connections to help make everybody’s boating experience a little better, more fulfilling in some way, or just more fun because us sailors typically somewhat like minded and enjoy helping each other out.” If I ever decide buy a new boat, my first call will be to Chip.

I recently bought my new sailboat through S&J Yachts and I am very pleased with the service from the start until closing the deal and doing the final paperwork. Every step went smoothly. Chip Johnson was my broker, awesome guy to work with, he explained the purchase process to me up front including the timeline for each step. After I bought the boat Chip took the time to educate me on operating some of the on-board equipment. Best of all, he gave me one of his paper Intercostal Waterway navigation charts and took the time to walked me through it page by page to get the boat to its new home port in Deltaville, for that I am truly grateful.
