The Designer Ron Holland has long been designing swift, large and luxurious sailing yachts. He may be best known for his superyachts such as Mirabella V and Ethereal. His involvement with Trintella began in 1994 leading to his designing the Trintella 42, 47, 50, 55 and 65.
Ron when speaking about the Trintella 55 said "I think the boat is like a small megayacht that offers luxury in a small compact package and appeals to people that would otherwise own a 100 footer." "It is a good-size vessel for a couple to cross the ocean." He also thinks that the cuddy cabin is a valuable feature for protecting the crew during blue water passages because constant exposure to the elements can get old in a hurry.

On that October day, the Chesapeake was snorty, coldish and choppy, all under a heavy canopy of gray clouds that were at times incontinent. While other crews on smaller boats in the vicinity held on for dear life, here I was, casually ambling forward on the high side without worrying about getting tossed overboard. It was all so inviting, so clean, so reassuring: toerails that have matured into bulwarks, plenty of room to pass outside the shrouds, lifelines at the proper height, sure footing on the teak deck, sturdy elliptical handrails on the cabin top that cleverly concealed the sail-control lines. But what fascinated me most was the smooth motion. Leaning on the headstay with my eyes closed, the rhythm of the heaving bow transported me to the scene of a baroque Viennese ballroom where a crowd of elegant dancers parlayed a champagne mood into the ¾ measure of The Blue Danube waltz. Yes, this boat can waltz to weather, all 24 tons of her, covering an impressive stretch of water in the process.
The Trintella 55 Paradigm is very easy to sail with power winches, twin headsails (a self-tacker and a code zero) both with Reckmann power furlers and a LeisureFurl power main making her very easy to sail.

VESSEL WALKTHROUGH
The Trintella 55 has a luxuriously appointed interior with teak joinery. There is generous headroom found throughout this yacht. Wide easy companionway steps lead you into the main salon. Large windows, portlights and overhead hatches provide lots of light. In the evening the many halogen lights overhead make for a warm and inviting setting.
Paradigm has 3 staterooms, 2 heads each with a separate shower and a large walk-in engine room with standing headroom. The salon features a U-shaped settee with fold out leaf table to port which is designed to comfortably seat six. The chart table is opposite to starboard. Aft of the chart table, the galley runs the length of the passageway to starboard.
Floors are laid in teak and holly and are removable to access the bilge for maintenance or storage. Each cabin has, where possible, a continuous pelmet behind which curtain tracks and concealed lighting are fitted. All hanging lockers have cedar linings and automatic lights.
The Salon has a large comfortable wraparound settee to port with a teak table that can convert from a coffee table to a full sized dining table. When the table is full size, a beautiful compass rose inlay is revealed. No need to worry about where to store the additional leafs to the table as they store inside the base. Just aft of the settee is the bar area complete with icemaker, and cupboards for glass and bottle stowage. The settee provides ample handholds throughout the salon. Below the settee unit is the ventilated battery box and stowage areas.
The Master Stateroom is found aft. There is a large centerline berth with seating on either side. Plenty of light and ventilation with 2 overhead hatches, 2 opening ports and 2 additional portlights. Great storage is found in the 2 hanging lockers, the drawers under the bed, the lockers and behind the seating. Bookshelves and counter space is conveniently located on both sides.
The VIP Stateroom is all the way forward and it too has a centreline berth. Seating on either side at the foot end of the bed, drawers under the berth, hanging locker, bookshelves and a large mirror are some of the features.
The Guest (Third) Cabin is just aft of the forward stateroom on the port side and has 2 berths over and under. This cabin may also be used as a sitting area when the top berth is folded down.
There are Two Heads; the forward head, also the day head is to starboard, just aft of the VIP stateroom. The owners have their own private ensuite head. Both heads have Tecma electric freshwater flush toilets, white Pietraluce counters with a large molded in washbasin and a separate shower stall with Perspex shower doors. There are lockers above the washbasin with mirrors mounted on the front providing stowage for personal effects. Additional storage is found below the sink.

GALLEY
The spacious galley is positioned aft of the salon on the starboard side. It's layout ensures that it is safe and secure at sea in heavy weather. The cook is undisturbed yet not cut-off from the rest of the salon. A stainless steel handrail for safety is conveniently located the length of the galley. Inboard is the washer/dryer. Below this is a very large storage locker for those big items. Outboard are numerous small and large storage cupboards including custom dish storage. Additonally below the oven is an area to store pots. Good ventilation in the galley is provided with 2 opening ports and an extractor fan over the stove.

NAVIGATION
The navigation station positioned on the starboard side of the salon provides the perfect blend of form and function. The chart table is of ample size and has chart stowage below. Additional storage is found below the chart table and beneath the seat. In front of and outboard of the table are the navigational and communication instruments.

WALK-IN ENGINE ROOM
Access to the full size walk-in engine room is from the main salon through a heavily insulated door. The engine and main mechanical systems are mounted in this heavily insulated engine room to minimize noise. The insulation is finished with bondal plating and together with the patterned aluminum flooring it gives the engine room an industrial look and is easy to clean. Superior access to systems is afforded in this layout. There is a sea chest to minimize the number of thru hulls. On the outboard side is a workbench and a vice with room for spares and tool storage. Just when you thought you have everything - it gets better. The engine room is force ventilated by an electrical fan which exchanges the hot air for cool fresh air. Much better for the equipment and your comfort when working in this area.

SAILS & RIGGING
The Trintella 55 has a modern powerful rig with swept back spreaders greatly eliminating the need for running backstays. However, for when there is very heavy weather, Paradigm has the additional security of having running backstays. Ron Holland designed her to provide a perfectly balanced sail plan which is delightfully easy to handle and boasts the significant advantage of a self-tacking jib. This combination ensures a yacht which is a true joy to sail!
All lines coming from the mast or boom, including mainsheet are led aft to the cockpit through a clever system of organizers and large diameter tube (which also serves as a handrail) to keep the deck as clear as possible and to make it possible to conduct most sailing operations from the security of the cockpit.

HULL & DECK
The hull is built extremely strong and is completed wrapped with Kevlar and E-glass. There are watertight bulkheads fore and aft.
Decks are extra thick - 12mm (versus the industry standard of 8-9 mm) providing 3 to 5 years of additional life.
Passageway along the side decks is safe and easy with wide unobstructed decks and teak-capped bulwarks.
There is a very large sail locker forward with a watertight deck hatch. This locker has ample space for sails, lines, fenders and cruising gear. Inside the sail locker is access to the forward chain locker. The chain locker is divided. Aft of the sail locker is a watertight bulkhead.
Forward Cockpit with Cuddy: Trintella's trademark Cuddy is built integral to the deck and offers a high degree of comfort and security for guests and crew.
The cockpit with Cuddy offers excellent all-round visibility. This area will seat 8 to 10 people and also provides two excellent sea-berths. The seats and floor are laid in teak. There is a drop leaf teak table which is on a track allowing it to be moved off of centerline or removed entirely for convenience. Overhead lighting provides a wonderful ambience at night.
Companionway: A sliding hatch and the drop down captive washboard are made of 10mm tinted acrylic and a stainless steel surround for added security.
Aft Cockpit: The aft cockpit has been ergonomically designed to be safe and comfortable, while keeping all the main controls within easy reach of the helmsman. The twin helm stations utilize Whitlock "Premier Reflex" steering pedestals with compass and leather covered wheel.
Hydraulic Transom Door: The hydraulic transom door lowers with the push of a button at the helm. The door when lowered makes a very convenient and easy way to board the boat or to use as a bathing platform. This platform is covered in teak and has a removable swim ladder. When the door is open, there is wonderful access to a large lazarette stowage area. Access to this area while underway is through the port locker in the aft cockpit. For safety and added integrity to the yacht there is a watertight bulkhead.
